Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), has called on security agencies across Lagos State to prioritise the safety and protection of schoolchildren, warning against any security threats that could endanger their lives.
At 50, Dr. Ogunsan has continued to demonstrate a strong commitment to security, strategic leadership, and human development. Known for his determination, vigilance, and dedication to public service, he has distinguished himself through his efforts to strengthen security operations and promote collaboration among relevant agencies.
A firm believer in purposeful leadership and accountability, Ogunsan recognises that public office comes with significant responsibilities. In appreciation of the confidence reposed in him by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, he has continued to emphasise the importance of fulfilling the mandate of the LSSTF by supporting initiatives that enhance the safety and security of residents across Lagos State.
During a courtesy visit to his office in Alausa, Ikeja, by the management of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), led by its General Manager, Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan, alongside Commandant Patriot Ambassador Badmus Akeem Abayomi and the management team of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Lagos State Command, Ogunsan delivered a strong message on the need to protect schoolchildren.
The LSSTF boss stressed that the safety of children must remain a major priority for the Lagos State Government and its security agencies. He urged security operatives to demonstrate the highest levels of vigilance, professionalism, and commitment in carrying out their responsibilities.
According to Ogunsan, the protection of children should not be treated as an ordinary security assignment but as a fundamental responsibility that demands constant attention and effective coordination among all relevant agencies.
“Our children are our pride. They are precious seeds,” he emphasised, calling on security agencies to ensure that children remain safe in urban centres, inner-city communities, and riverine areas throughout Lagos State.
He further explained that the state’s security strategy should extend beyond the protection of prominent individuals and other VIPs to embrace the safety of every resident. He advocated a comprehensive security approach that would enable people to move freely across Lagos without fear of harassment, intimidation, or other security-related challenges.
Ogunsan particularly highlighted the need for schoolchildren to be properly monitored and protected as they travel to and from school. He urged security agencies to strengthen their collaboration and remain alert to potential threats within and around school environments.
The security expert maintained that the collective responsibility of safeguarding Lagos residents requires a proactive approach, with particular attention given to the most vulnerable members of society.
He reiterated that the safety of children is central to the future of Lagos State, stressing that every relevant agency must take its responsibilities seriously to prevent security breaches and protect young lives.
Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan’s call serves as a reminder that effective security requires more than protecting prominent individuals; it demands a coordinated commitment to ensuring that every resident, especially schoolchildren, can live, learn, and move around Lagos State safely.
His message is clear: the protection of Lagos schoolchildren must remain a top security priority, and every agency must play its part in safeguarding their future.
