The ancient town of Emu in Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State is set to witness a major community development initiative as the Idumhun-Ose Sons and Daughters Association intensifies efforts to provide solar-powered streetlights and other social amenities for the community.
The association has appealed to the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and Senator Joseph I. Ikpea, representing Edo Central Senatorial District, as well as other well-meaning individuals and organisations, to support the solar streetlight project.
The association said the initiative is aimed at improving security, enhancing mobility at night and stimulating economic activities within Idumhun-Ose and its surrounding communities.
According to the association, the project is being driven by the determination of its sons and daughters to contribute to the development of their community despite the financial challenges involved.
It appealed to government officials, corporate organisations and individuals to support the project through donations and other forms of assistance.

The association said members have already begun contributing towards the project, adding that the contributions reflect their commitment to the development of Idumhun-Ose.
The initiative, described as part of an “Operation Light Up Esan South-East” campaign, is expected to provide solar-powered lighting infrastructure while contributing to improved security and access to modern amenities.
The association also expressed appreciation to its members and supporters for their contributions and commitment to the project.
Meanwhile, prominent Esan human rights lawyer and veteran journalist, Ambassador (Barr.) Prince Sunny Ebhojiaye, has commended the people of Idumhun-Ose, Ibhiadan, Emu, Edo State, for what he described as their determination, unity and commitment to community development.
Speaking with City Express News in Lagos during the week, Ebhojiaye said the response from concerned Nigerians and Edo indigenes had encouraged the establishment of a Committee of Friends to support the initiative.
He appealed to Governor Monday Okpebholo to consider supporting the Idumhun-Ose solar streetlight and social amenities project.
Ebhojiaye also called on other senators representing Edo State, members of the Edo State House of Assembly, members of the House of Representatives, local government chairmen and councillors to support development initiatives that would positively impact the community.
He urged well-meaning Nigerians, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to contribute towards the successful completion of the project.

Ebhojiaye further encouraged the sons and daughters of Idumhun-Ose to remain united and committed to the development of their community, stressing the importance of collective effort in achieving sustainable grassroots development.
