By Prince Sunny Ebhojiaye

It was pomp and pageantry at an exceptional and memorable weekend in the city of Lagos, Nigeria, as the Ijegun/Ijododo community came alive with an impressive celebration of the 25th Wedding Anniversary of the amiable wife of the multiple chieftaincy title holder, Eze Dr. (Amb.) Chika Nwokedi, Eze Okpoko 1, Pastor (Mrs.) Tessy Chika Nwokedi (Queen Ugoeze), a.k.a. Ada Ka Ada.

The ceremony, which took place on August 16, 2026, was attended by two Assistant Inspectors-General of Police: AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom of the FCID Annex, Lagos, Alagbon, Ikoyi, and the Assistant Inspector-General of Police Maritime, Lagos Command and Assistant Inspector-General Akunade Ronke Nurat

The colourful ceremony was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life, including top officials of the Lagos State Government, the Nigeria Police Force, the military, Customs, Civil Defence, business tycoons, and several captains of industry. Among those present were High Chief Sunday Udeh, Chairman of the Igbo Speaking Community of Lagos State, and Okeyson Motors Chairman/CEO, Chief Sunny Akpoyinbo, among others.

The dignitaries were on hand to honour the great philanthropist. The occasion provided a significant platform for celebrating the wedding anniversary, as well as showcasing the enduring richness of Igbo culture and heritage. It also recognised individuals whose contributions continue to promote cultural identity, leadership, and community development.

In a special recognition of his exemplary leadership and commitment to community development, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom said that Nwokedi is a God-sent person to humanity.

“He has done a lot for his community and beyond Nigeria. I am here to celebrate with him on his 25th wedding anniversary. I wish him many more years of celebration.”

AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom of FCID Alagbon was accompanied to the occasion by the FCID Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Aminat Mayegun.

The event also featured traditional displays of loyalty, with subjects paying homage to the monarch amid a shower of naira notes.

Eze Chika Nwokedi, popularly known as Money-Money Eze, had promised his wife that he would buy her a car for their 25th Wedding Anniversary, and he fulfilled the promise with the presentation of the car.

The hall was beautifully decorated with flowers, balloons, and an elaborate, festive ambience. The dancing floor was filled with celebrants and friends, while money was sprayed generously throughout the celebration.

Nwokedi also celebrated his 54th birthday on August 3, 2026, describing his journey as a decade of God’s grace, warmth, and quiet influence.

His story is a life-touching testimony of perseverance and success. From struggling to afford transport fare to board a bus, he eventually became successful enough to buy a car for his wife, Lolo.

Eze Chika Nwokedi recounted how he once slept inside a shop in Mushin, Ladipo, for over seven years, eating only once a day. He noted that, eventually, he was able to raise enough money to rent a room in Lagos, but after one year, he could no longer afford the rent and was eventually evicted by his landlord.

Today, he has houses in Lagos, Abuja, and Onitsha.

Glory be to God.
