Margret Ochalla, hails from Yala in Ogoja, Cross River State, Nigeria. She has made significant contribution to the Nigeria Police Force, Ochalla graduated from Nnamdi Azikiwe University as a sociologist, another B.Sc in Conflict Resolution and refugee management and later earned a master’s degree in peace and Conflict Resolution. She was enlisted to the Nigeria Police Force as a young cadet and served in various capacities. Her posting was in Anambra State where she did her mandatory one- year attachment CPS Awka Division to Cps Abagama after completion of mandatory one year attachment. The young cadet officer was later transfer back to the state command Headquarters to head secret registry. Her hard work earned her the position of a personal Assistant to four different Commissioners of police, including as officer in charge of the monitoring unit in Anambra and team leader of the IGP monitoring unit in Abuja. Her exemplary service led to her promotion and appointment to the rank of Assistant commissioner of Police where she served as the Force Gender Unit / Advisory to the Inspector General of Police.
She was later recommended for a special promotion due to her excellent performance and achievement to Deputy Commissioner of Police. She grown hand- in –hand and commitment delivery earned her recognition and respect in Police Force. She was rewarded with promotion to commissioner of Police and posted to head the Anti- Fraud unit, Milverton Ikoyi where she did a practical work and was tagged “Crime Buster of the year.
Her achievement got her envious position of Assistant Inspector General of Police. She revived FCID Annex Alagbon, Ikoyi and give it a new face look before her current position as DIG in charge FCID Abuja. Ochalla has received numerous awards including the global women Hall of Fame Award in 2017 presented by Sheik in Dubai Africa Women Leadership. With two decade plus of professionalism experience in Nigeria Police Force, her suitability for leadership role becomes unquestionable.
Ochalla is a passionate philanthropist and a giver to the core. Due to her service to humanity, Ghanian President His Excellency John Mahama in South Africa National Security Award for Excellent Performance and exemplary Leadership by the Federal Republic of Nigeria Senate Committee on Police Affairs. Improving access to Justice Award by Former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo (SAN) Distinguish global Amazon Award in Kiggali, Rwanda. International Security Service award at iso-sec Switzerland, United Kingdom in 2024 and host of others.
With her impressive track record and dedication to excellence, Dig Ochalla is indeed a well-deserved woman star police officer of the year, nominated by City Express News. The presentation Award will come up in Abuja in FCID by the end of June, 2026.
